Skin Care & Grooming
Today's manly men take time to look after their skin and appearance. Whether it is simple skin protection from the harsh sun or a full blown daily skin care regime, grooming is definitely an important facet of any man's life.
What is Dad hasn't yet taken hold of taking care of his skin or needs a little update in the grooming department? Introduce it slowly and don't bombard him with too many complex looking lotions, creams, cleaners or toners. One step at a time. The number of dedicated men's skin care and grooming products is growing every day, so you can introduce him to the wonderful world of taking better care of one's apperance, without taking away his masculinity.
Father's Day is the prime opportunity to introduce great grooming stuff to the important man in your life. Even though there may be some reluctance at first, and he may simply agree to use the gift because he has to, no doubt he will come to appreciate and even like to use effective products to make him an even better looking version of himself.
Skincare:
Functional seems to work for dads, doesn't it? Especially if the product is masterfully labelled ''men's'' and is not ridiculously priced.
Ego Pharmaceuticals' QV Man is a simple range, priced from $12.99 for the face cleanser to $15.99 for the all-important SPF 30+ moisturiser. Natio, another good and affordable Australian brand, has released a limited-edition pack of face and body basics for men, including a moisturiser, for $34.95. Good for the travelling dad. The best of the Ella Bache men's range is the Pureté Gel Démaquillant, $62, a purifying wash-off cleanser with cucumber extract and avocado oil for soft, moist skin.
Shaving:
Men's grooming product specialist American Crew has launched its first shave range. The four stylishly packaged products are aimed at not only assisting a comfortable shave but in improving the condition of the skin. Moisturising Shave Cream ($24.95) is a herbal, conditioning formula that works well for normal to coarse beards while Precision Shave Gel ($24.95) is a non-foaming formula ideal for normal to fine beards.
The upmarket Lab Series has introduced for Father's Day what it describes as ''jumbo sized'' versions of its three bestsellers. The 200ml Maximum Comfort Shave Cream will set you back $54 and the 100ml 3-in-1 Post Shave $65.
Accessories:
The hip enviro dad can probably see himself swinging down the street with reuseable water bottle in hand and eco shopping tote on shoulder. The stylish Sustain Infinity water bottles from Aladdin ($19.95) are made from recycled and recyclable material and at least one of the designs is suitably mannish and mod. Avdea's new Affinity shopping bag is made of 80 per cent recycled cotton and 20 per cent recycled PET. It's black and large and at $9.95 is pocketmoney friendly also. The same dad might be into (even if he doesn't know it yet) essential oils. Tis the season to arc up the burner: candles and summer heat won't gel. Miessence has a new sweet orange ($14.50) while good lavender oil can be found just about anywhere these days: try Natural Alternative's for $14.95. A relaxed dad is a happy dad. |
